High Performance Brake Pads

There are a number of different brake pads out there, but they are not all the same. Many people want to purchase high performance brake pads to help their vehicles slow down or stop better. However, not everyone has the same idea as to what a high performance brake pad should be. For some, it means coming to a controlled stops. However, while these are all great things, the major feature of high performance brake pads is to provide braking that is not too soft or too hard on the majority of driving conditions.

High performance brakes are created out of a type of material that has a higher coefficient of friction. This means that the material needs less pedal pressure in order to stop the vehicle. If the backing plate is not inflexible, it can cause the friction material to not come into full contact with the rotor, resulting in a softer brake and longer braking times.

Finally, high performance brake pads also have a low brake fade. This helps to eliminate both that new brake smell that you often get when first using a new set of brake pads, and it helps to eliminate water and other components from getting in between the pads and the rotor.
