Engine Oil Pump

If you own a vehicle, then one of the major operating systems in that automobile is the oil distribution system, and at the heart of those lines of oil is the engine oil pump. The engine oil pump is actually something that can cause catastrophic engine failure in your vehicle if you are not careful, and it is not something that you want to allow to get into bad disrepair because of this reason. One of the main problems that can cause an engine oil pump to completely malfunction is the failure to get your oil changed over for extended periods of time.

When the oil is not properly changed out it can get thick and can cause problems within the engine and the engine oil pump. If the engine parts are not completely lubricated, then the metal starts to wear against each other. These regular changes will help to ensure that all of the moving parts in the engine remain well lubricated and the engine oil pump will be able to move the flow of the oil through the engine as it should. This in turn will work to make sure that the car is functioning at the optimum levels.

If you start to experience problems that may be tied into the engine oil pump then you should look into getting it fixed immediately. The largest symptom of a problem with your engine oil pump is the dramatic loss of oil pressure. If this happens you should park your car immediately and get the engine oil pump checked over to make sure that it is still ruining lubricant through it and into the engine like it should be. If you do not know how to check the engine oil pump by yourself then you will need to go ahead and make arrangements to take the vehicle in immediately. You do not want to mess around with a fouled up engine oil pump that could eventually wreak havoc on your entire motor.

Make sure that if you have someone looks at the engine oil pump that they know what they are doing. It is a process that you can even do yourself if you are so inclined and have the tools and the information to be able to handle the procedure. If you are mechanically inclined and you want to endeavor to change out the engine oil pump yourself, then you should be able to find the parts that you need at any number of local stores. Also, you will want to make sure that you have a relevant repair guide for the make and model of your vehicle that will show you how to best change out the engine oil pump.

When you are dealing with something as important as the engine oil pump, however, it might be in your best interests to make sure that this is a job that is covered by an insured mechanic. Generally speaking, replacing the engine oil pump is not a job that you want to do yourself unless you are completely sure of what you are doing and are greatly experienced in mechanical endeavors.

I recently bought a 4 yr old vivaro van from a dealership and 5 wks later the oil pump failed and ruined the engine, the oil levels were maintained correctly and this was verified at the time of breakdown by the rac - the garage in question are trying to blame me and not fulfill their obligations, is there anywhere i can get information to back up the fact that the oil pump must have been faulty at purchase.

  2. I had an encounter with a South Korean bus Hyundai H1. I just serviced it and in less than 2 kilometers, the engine knock due to oil pump failure. In the fleet of 300 buses, at the moment we have 80 buses with engine failure issue due to oil pump failure.
    Can the property of the metals used in the manufacturing of the oil pump constitute to their failure?
    Please I need better understanding of this.
